League champions clash in first game of season

Saturday 7th September 2013

This game was played  at a high tempo with great passing football from both teams. Llangennech put together some good passing moves and created a numner of chances in the first half but Fraser  and Dan Philips were denied certain goals from point blank headers by the Pontlliw keeper. Pontlliw played a good percentage game and were clinical in front of goal, despite Llangenench having the majority of the ball in the first half, it was Pontlliw who scored twice from 2 well worked chances  to lead at half time 2-0.

Llangennech showed great character in the second half and stuck to their passing game. Jordan Badman pulled a goal back with a clever spin and shot past the keeper to make the scores 2-1 half way through the half. llangenench piled on the pressure in the second half.  Jordan  pounced on a loose ball in the Pontlliw box to guide the ball in the net, levelling the scores , 5 minutes later as the momentum of the game was with Llangennech. The Llangenench defence must be mentioned as they played solidly throughout the game keeping the Pontlliw strikers at bay for most of the match. The creativity in midfield with Fraser, Callum, Lloyd, Aaron and Dan made a number of chances towards the end of the match, but the score finished 2-2.

An excellent advert for Junior football in what was a physical game of  the highest standard between to very good sides.

Final score : Pontlliw 2 Llangennech 2
