Llangennech U16's v dafen

Saturday 21st September 2013

Llangennech welcomed Dafen to penygaer in this eagerly awaited clash.

Llangennech started where they left off from the previous game and took control of this fixture from the starting whistle.

The energy of Callum Dawe and Lloyd Francis in midfield allowed llangenench the lions share of possesion which they turned into a number of swift passing moves and chances on goal for Jordan Badman, Tom Roberts, Jordan Badman and Fraser Dickson. The Dafen goalie was in good form as he kept llangenench out for 20 minutes. It was in the 21st minute that Callum curled a perfect shot past the outstretched arms of the goalie to put Llangenench ahead. Tom Roberts added a second to continue his great form he has shown this season.

Half time Llangenench 2 Dafen 0

The work that the players and coaches have put into training on fitness showed in the second half as Llangenench do not tire, even playing the high tempo game which saw them run box to box in swift attacking moves time and again. Callum scored the only Llangenench goal in the second half following a deflection off a dafen player.

Jordan  Badman and Dan Philips thoroughly enjoyed themselves, running at the Dafen defence at every opportunity  and both were unlucky to get on the score sheet themselves.

Fine saves from the Dafen goalie where he tipped shots over the bar from Callum and Cai in quick succesion showed the pressure dafen were put under. Dafen rarely threatened the Llangenench goal, as every ball over the top of the Llangenench defence was cooly dealt with by Tom Rees, Cai Morris Daniels, Ieuan Thomas, Ross Howells and Jo Rees. Ben Davies marshalled everyone expertly from goals and swept up everything that came to him.

Dafen scored from a free kick towards the end of the second half after Ben was judged to handle the ball outside the box, the Dafen striker shot cooly into the inside netting eventhough Ben got a hand to it.

Final score Llangennech 3 Dafen 1
