Pengelli 2 Under 16s 5

Saturday 31st January 2015

After the disappointment of losing 4-0 at Ammanford last week, Llangennech got back to basics at Pengelli this morning.

Team:  Rhys Tiplady, Jack Gilmore-Jones, Rhys Jones, Ciaran Melly, Liam Jones, Rhys Austin, Jacob Owens, Dafydd Williams, Matthew Jones, Dylan Nicholas-Clark, Tyler Finney.

A strong wind played its part and Llan took full advantage going 4-0 up by half time.  Dylan Nicholas-Clark forced Llan's first goal after going through on goal.  His shot hit the post and was then bundled over the line by an unfortunate defender.

Dafydd Williams grabbed a second for Llan from the penalty spot after Tyler Finney was pushed in the back when controlling the ball from a throw in.

Tyler himself then made it 3-0.  With his pace helping him leave the defenders for dead, he was able to produce a cool left-footed finish.

It was 4-0 when Dylan Nicholas-Clark scored in similar fasion to complete a dominant half by Llangennech.

After the turnaround, Llan had a shakey spell in which Pengelli scored twice.  Both goals capitalised on mistakes from Llan and Pengelli had the momentum.

It was really pleasing to see Llan keep their heads and brush those mistakes off by retaking control of the ball and forcing Pengelli back into their own half.

The win was rounded off by the goal of the day.  Dylan Nicholas-Clark beat his man on the right and delivered a superb cross onto the head of Tyler Finney who's finish was equally as good.

Let's hope we can keep this up.
