Penllergaer Scoop Three Points Off Llan

Saturday 5th January 2019

Llangennech suffered a blow in their promotion chase with a 4-3 defeat at the home of fellow hopefuls, Penllergaer.

The home side took the lead after 15 minutes when their midfield broke through to the byline and crossed for a headed goal.

Morgan Lewis equalised for Llangennech ten minutes later, keeping his composure when teed up by Nathan Mcauley's low cross.

But a penalty goal on the half hour mark and a further one on one finish gave Penllergaer a two goal cushion at half time.

Llan felt aggrieved that both goals stood and it stirred up a much better second half performance. Nathan Mcauley brought us to within a goal of the home side ten minutes into the second period, netting from Wayne Phillips' through ball.

Llan pushed hard for the equaliser but it was Penllergaer who netted next with a slotted finish following a set piece with only eight minutes to go.

The response was nearly immediate, with Nathan Jones' through ball finished by Nathan Mcauley on 85 minutes.

Further flurries forward however failed to bear fruit and the points went to Penllergaer.

Starting team: Martin Williams, Lewis Williams, Chris Hickey, Curtis Roberts, Mike O'Mara, Nathan Jones, Tom Harris, Corrie Jenkins, Morgan Lewis, Nathan Mcauley, Wayne Phillips.
