First Team Hit Half a Dozen

Sunday 29th November 2020

Our under 10’s teams took to the field against opposition for the first time this season following lockdowns and class isolations. We were able to put out two full teams against an equally eager Albies side.
Both games resulted in a close contest and excellent effort all around, albeit with that effort disappearing for the latter stages when all were tired due to the lack of subs.
Coach, Chris Meredith was delighted to return himself and praised the players after a break that extended beyond the rest of the club. He commented "It was great to see the boys blow off the cobwebs and get back out there doing what they enjoy. First game back and couldn’t have asked for a better effort from the boys.”

The players involved were: Aled, Alfie, Ariandus, Celt, Daniel, Ellis, Evan, Jacob, Jayden, Keaton, Oliver, Rhys, Rocco and Steffan.

A difficult game for the under 13's against Saron who performed very well. There were few bright moments for us but we did hit the bar in the second half as we adapted to 11 a side for the first time. We have a squad who are eager to learn and will strive to develop in the coming weeks and months.

Under 13's squad: Ashton, Cameron, Elis, Ethan, Ioan, Jac, Jayden, Leon, Nicky-Jay, Owain, Ryan and William.

The under 16's launched an impressive come back given they were 3-1 down away to Drefach with half an hour left. Coach Chris Evans was impressed with the way his side finished the game. Ryan Roberts scored the first Llangennech goal and then an Ewan Williams double rounded off a great comeback.
Under 16's squad: Daniel, Ryan, Harri, Johnny, Noa, Jay, Blake, Jac C, Jack S, Adam, Ewan, Rhydian, Rhys and Jack J.

After a positive performance on their return against Loughor last week, that ultimately ended in defeat, the firsts went on the road in search of a win at Penllergaer. The home side were bolstered by a new manager and several signings and are building nicely for their assault on CAFL Division Two.

After a cagey opening half hour from both teams where nobody really threatened the goalkeepers, it was James Taube who was calm enough to take a touch and compose himself when controlling a cross from the left to give himself a clear shot and score the opening goal.

Llangennech, heartened by the goal, went on to create several more chances before the break but were content with their one goal advantage at half time.

With substitute Lewis Williams entering the midfield at half time, he made an immediate positive impact with a goal for himself when reacting first inside the six yard box.

Penllergaer, determined to keep themselves in contention, struck next breaking Llangennech's high line and eventually finishing from a cross to the far post.

But Llangennech regained their two goal advantage with Gavin Williams' first of three goals on 53 minutes. Tom Harris made it 4-1 on 58 minutes as Llangennech continued to find opportunities presenting themselves from a high press. Williams completing his hat-trick with strikes in the 72nd and 74th minutes.

Overall, boss Martin Williams was pleased. "We've been brutal in finishing off a side today where the match could easily have gone in another direction. We've mostly done the right things at the right times but we'll continue to evolve our game over the coming weeks."

First team squad: Ross Robinson, James Taube, Jonathan Dakin, Michael O'Mara, Daniel Price, Nathan Mcauley, Thomas Harris, Alex Davies, Kieran Rees, Jack Yelland, Gavin Williams, Liam James and Lewis Williams.
