Llangennech 4-2 Inter Carmarthen

Saturday 13th September 2008

Llangennech made it three wins on the bounce with an impressive performance against Inter Carmarthen.  With several absenties the management were forced to make a few changes to the starting eleven and the performance of those who were given the shirts will make it hard for the absenties to get back in the side.

Llan started brightly and were ahead after 15 minutes through Emyr Williams who was switched to a striking role for the game.  He coolly slotted the ball past the keeper after latching on to Alex Dakin's through ball.

The lead lasted around 10 minutes before Carmarthen scored an equaliser capitalising on Llangennech giving the ball away in the middle of the field.  There were suspicions of offside when the final ball was played through but the striker finished well despite Llan's claims.

A crucial point in the match occured just before half time when Jonathan Dakin's thunderous strike from 20 yards found the bottom corner of the net to put Llangennech back in the lead before the break.

Carmarthen made a strong start to the second half creating a few good opportunities so when Emyr Williams scored a headed goal from a corner after 70 minutes there was relief at having a two goal cushion.

With fifteen minutes remaining Inter Carmarthen had a player sent off for two cautionable offences and moments later Llangennech added a fourth.  After some patient football in the corner Dakin broke free into the box and from a very tight angle beat the keeper with another powerful shot.

That wasn't the end of the goals however with Inter Carmarthen scoring the best goal of the game with five minutes remaining when a 20 yard strike found the top corner.

The First Team have a week off next Saturday before they welcome Llanelli 'A' in the Senior Cup First Round on Saturday 27th September.  Plans for a league game on Tuesday have been cancelled due to the poor light.

There will be training Tuesday and Thursday at 6pm in Llangennech Park.
