Llangennech V Calsonic U11's

Sunday 12th October 2008

Llangenench fielded the the majority of their strong squad for this home game against Calsonic. All players were rotated throughout the game which benefited everyone as all the players looked fresh and fit and enjoyed playing together.

In a good well spirited game, Llangennech started with some dazzling attacking play with Nathan, Tom , Jordan and Frazer passing the ball swiftly and accurately between each other.  The strikers could confidently play up field with the defence of Owain and Leon looking solid and Ieuan comforatable in goals.  The 1st goal soon came from one of the sweeping moves scored by Tom, Fraser added 2 more with some cool finishing before Jordan opened his account and Fraser completed his hatrick in the first quarter.  Score 5-0.

A change of personnel in the second quarter saw Tom in goals, Scott, Ieuan and Ross in defence, Tim and Lloyd iin midfield and Dan up front. . Llangennech again played as a team, with good passing movements built on a good defence. A 6th goal came from Scott Wilson which must be a contender for goal of the season when he saw a gap in the top corner of the goal from the half way line and stroked the ball in leaving the goalie wondering what had happened.  The hard working Tim Thomas scored shortly afterwards before Calsonic pulled one back.  Calsonic played good football passing the ball about midfield and kept the ball well.  Tim added a 2nd before the quarter ended. Score 8-1.

Llangennech made full use of their squad and changes were made, as Llangennech passed the ball about with purpose a goal came from a corner which found the ball in the box and Leon in a good position to calmly guide the ball past the Calsonic goalkeeper.  The quarter continued with positive play with every pass played with a purpose.  Calsonic had a number of shots which were dealt with by the agile Ross Howells in goals.  This saw Jordans quick feet take him past the Calsonic defence to score 2 goals before the referee blew up for the end of the quarter.  Score 11-1.

The final quarter again saw changes but Llangennech kept their shape and style of play, for the 2nd time in the match Tom opened the scoring with a excellently taken goal, Dan came close on a number of occasions, and Ross revelled in his midfield role.  After playing well in goals in the last quarter, Ross enjoyed his time out of the goals so much he went looking for the ball up front in the box and through hard work and good finishing scored 3 in the quarter.

A good well rounded display which saw the whole squad coming together as a team and putting the training done in midweek by Adam, Steff and Leigh into practice in the game.  The defence looked secure and feed the midfield and strikers who linked well to produce well deserved goals.
