Llangenench U11's V Cwmgwili

Saturday 1st November 2008

Llan U11's played host to Cwmgwili down the park in the first fixture of the season. Llangennech's large squad looked impressive from the kick off. With a number of players unavailable, the team that took the field looked keen to get the season underway in style as they played a good direct passing game. Llangenench's first goal came after 2 minutes with a well taken strike from Dan Breddy. Llangenench kept the ball well in the quarter with Lloyd Francis picking up all the loose balls in midfield through his tireless work  and Tom linking up well with Dan and Lloyd up front to score a hatrick with a strong skilful performance.  The defence of Owain Thomas, Ieuan Thomas and Jo Graydon with Leon Morris in goals were rarely troubled. Score 4-0.

A number of subs were used in the 2nd quarter with Scott Wilson and Leon Morris in defence and Tim Thomas, Nathan Wooldridge and Fraser Dickson up front. The strength of the Llangennech squad showed as they continued to dominate with Nathan looking sharp and Tim's direct strong runs and tackling troubling Cwmgwili time and again. Frasser looked dangerous every time he touched the ball and created numerous chances for his teammates. The quater finished with Tim and Nathan on the scoresheet. Score 6-0.

As the game went into the 2nd half, the fitness and skill that the team has been been working on in training showed as more changed were wrung. Llangenech looked strong, Tim scored a deserved hatrick, Lloyd scored one, Nathan scored one and Fraser scored two.  Again the defence were rarely called upon, but when they were they comfortably dealt with everything Cwmgwili threw at them.

This was a good game to start the season, but harder games will follow.

Final score 11-0.
