Llangenench U11's V Llan Rads

Saturday 1st November 2008

Due to the large U11's squad, a number of Llangennech U10's team came down to play  a short match against the U11's players who were not called into action at the time. This kept the players warm and alert, and a big thank you is given to all the U10's who turned out.

Llangenench started the game brightly with Ieuan Thomas in goals, Owain Thomas and Tim Thomas in defence.  Lloyd Francis, Tom, Jordan Badman and Fraser Dickson up front.  Llangenench kept the ball well and dominated the game by passing the ball about keeping Llan Rads out of the game. In form striker Fraser scored 3 well taken goals in this quarter but Llan Rads  scored 1 themselves in their only attack of the period. Score 3-1.

The 2nd quarter saw team changes and  a battling Llan Rads took the game to llangennech scoring  a number of goals in quick succession to draw the scoreline level then push further ahead. This quarter definately went to Llan rads as the scoreline ended 3-6.

To get anything out of the game Llangennech would have to show character and a bit of patience. Changes to the team were made and a rearrangement of the defence and strikeforce. Cai came on in goals. The quarter remained goalless but Llangennech had steadied the ship and were the team that looked more likely to score, going close on more than 1 occasion. At one  point Owain Thomas lobbed the ball from the half way line goalwards. As it was on its way to the top corner the park became silent as the crowd held its breath, but the goalie came out of nowwhere (bit exagerated) and got a hand to the ball to stop it going in under the bar. Score 3-6.

The final quarter saw Llangennech play dazzling football from Fraser, Jordan, Tom and Dan up front, whilst the defence of Ross, Owain, Scott, Leon and Cai in goals were solid.  All players started to really enjoy themselves and expressed themselves on the pitch as goals went in from Fraser, Tom, Dan and Ross. Final score 9-6.
