Cross Hands 4-1 Llangennech
Sunday 23rd November 2008
Llangennech were again forced to make two changes to their starting line-up with Emyr Williams and Paul Thomas absent. Christian Williams and Gavin Williams came in in their places.
Team: Martin Williams, Daniel Evans, Nathan Phillips, Christian Williams, Ian Morgan, Tom Harris, Rhys Wakely, Dean Williams, Darren Dickeson, Gavin Williams, Curtis Roberts. Subs: Richard Thomas, Simon Davies.
On another poor pitch Llangennech went behind after 20 minutes after some slack marking on a free kick allowed the Cross Hands player to hit a sweet volley into the top corner.
Dean Williams then continued his fine goalscoring form with another headed goal this time from a corner to bring Llan back on level terms.
They were then given the chance to take the lead from the penalty spot but Curtis Roberts missed from 12 yards for the 2nd time in the same number of games.
To make things worse around ten minutes after the miss, Cross Hands got themselves in front with a headed goal into the top corner.
Llangennech piled the pressure on Cross Hands in the second period but rarely troubled the goalkeeper and were caught twice on the break in the last ten minutes to make the scoreline very harsh on Llan. To make matters worse, striker Gavin Williams was sent off with twenty minutes to go for foul and abusive language.
Thankfully for Llan, our main rivals at the top of the table also lost. The Jays were not in action but Penllergaer went down 2-0 to Johnstown United and Porth Towyn pulled off a shock 1-0 win over Killay.
Next up it's a break from league action when Caerbryn visit the park in the 2nd round of the Challenge Cup next Saturday.
