Llangennech U11's V camford whites

Monday 16th February 2009

This game was played in near perfect conditions under floodlights down Llangennech Park.

Team : Leon Morris, Owain Thomas, Tim Thomas, Lloyd Francis, Dan Breddy, Tom Roberts, Fraser dickson, Ieuan Thomas.

Llangnnech started brightly with sublime football which saw Camford unable to get the ball off them. The first goal came from Fraser who intercepted a backpass from a camford player to cooly slot the ball into the bottom corner of the goal. A second goal also came from Fraser when he reacted quickly to a ball played through behind the defence to place the ball beyond the keeper.Llangennech dominated this quarter with crisp passing from defence and the strikers pressurising the camford team from the front. A 3rd goal came from a shot by Tom Roberts to finish an accomplished first quarter.  score 3-0.

The second quarter was a hard fought battle which resulted in few chances for both teams. Leon Morris in goals was rarely called upon but when he was, showed great hands and awareness in stopping  a couple of shots from long range. The ferocicity of the llangennech tackling was immense ,which meant all camfords moves were broken down before they could threaten the Llangennech goal. All players were involved in working hard including the hard working strikers of Tom and Fraser and the battling Ieuan and Lloyd in midfield. Tim and Owain in defence were quick and strong always alert to camfords players who increasingly looked dangerous as the game unfolded. In an entertaining quarter there were no goals but plenty of action.score 3-0

The third quarter continued in the same vein as the second  in a hard fought game , chances were few but when they came in  a game of such high quality all players including the goalkeepers were  playing out of their skin. Dan showed great control, turn and shot from outside the box which was heading for the top corner of Camfords goal only to be tipped over the goal by an outstanding save from Camfords goalie. Another shot from Dan hit the post in this quarter which on another day would have gone in. Another day against another team dan would have scored a hatrick  but credit must be given to Camfords battling team and goalie to pessurise llangennech and play some great football themselves. score 3-0

The final quarter was as hard fought as the rest of the game with all players playing out of their sknis in determination and skill. Camfords pressure on  llangenench  payed off with 3 minutes to go as llangenench started to tire a little with a well taken goal. Camford played direct attacking football  and pushed forward at every opportunity and with seconds to spare were rewarded with their second goal. In this hard fought game llangennech played and beat a very good Camford side and ran out deserved winners but the quality  and style of their play from start to finish was there for everyone to admire.

Final score 3-2
