Llangennech 3 KRUF 1
Sunday 22nd March 2009
Llangennech sealed another three points in a tough encounter with a much improved KRUF side who were unbeaten in six games in the run up to this game.
But it took KRUF to take the lead before Llan started to play any sort of flowing football. Twenty minutes in, a mistake in the Llan defence put the opportunity to score on a plate for the KRUF forward.
Llangennech responed with some good moves and saw a couple of long range efforts miss the target before Gavin Williams won a penlaty after being tripped by the goalkeeper. The striker picked himself up to score the penalty comfortably.
Llangennech were then awarded another penalty before half time when Dai Thomas was pulled back as he was about to deliver a cross accross goal. Gavin Williams was again on the spot and this time opted for the opposite corner of the goal.
Williams completed his hat-trick mid way through the second half after controlling a bouncing ball in the penalty area before producing a superb finish over the goalkeeper.
With Penllergear losing, the win reduces the gap to second place to three points with Llan having three games in hand. Llangennech play Llanelli A away next Saturday while Penllergaer entertain Jays.
