Llanelli 'A' 1 Llangennech 5

Saturday 28th March 2009

Llangennech are now level on points with 2nd placed Penllergaer after winning 5-1 with Llanelli 'A' at Penygaer.

Dai Thomas put Llan 1-0 up after 10 minutes when Tom Harris' shot was saved by the keeper but the rebound fell to Thomas who made no mistake from 12 yards out.

Gavin Williams then made it 2-0 from the penalty spot after Dai Thomas was fouled in the box following good play from Chris Coslett.

In the second half the A's threatened a comeback after taking a quick free kick and catching Llan off guard.

After a nervy few minutes the away side quickly found their first half form with Steffan Cook scoring from a corner to regain the two goal cushion.

Tom Harris then added a fourth when he found himself in the right place at the right time thrashing the ball past the goalkeeper from close range.

The fifth was added by Gavin Williams again from the penalty spot after a bizzare handball on the goal-line by an A's defender who couldn't believe what he'd done himself.

The margin of victory could have been a lot greater had Llangennech taken more of their many chances, and they found the A's keeper in good form.

The win rounded off an excellent day for the club with the news that a section of land in the old MOD site has been set asside for a football pitch to be built.  Llangennech now have the opportunity to go second outright on Tuesday night at the park against 4th placed Killay.
