Under 13's 3 Pontarddulais 4
Friday 24th April 2009
Llangennech Under 13's first game was a seven goal thriller at the park against Pontarddulais. With 24 players available, Llangennech fielded a different team in each half and in the end only narrowlly lost out against a more experienced team.
First half squad: Josh Watkins, Aaron Thomas, Connor James, Callum Jenkins, Bariş Hakman, Corrie Morris, Ben Wakely, Liam Williams, Leon Morris, Tommy Lee, Corrie Jenkins, Steffan Lund.
Second half squad: Steffan Edwards, Dion Jones, Josh Evans, Josh Medwin, Ashton Ball, Sam Evans, Macauley Simon, Zach Tammuchy, Rhys Evans, Kieran Partridge, Jordan Fox, Brandon Davies.
An excellent finish fifteen minutes in from Tommy Lee after good interplay with Corrie Jenkins gave Llangennech the lead.
The lead was short lived with when a Bont corner was deflected into the net five minutes later.
But Llangennech stole the lead before half time with Liam Williams netting from a tight angle with ten minutes left of the half.
Llangennech changed their entire team for the second half and struggled to get posession of the ball for much of the half. Despite some resolute defending, Bont scored three times to put themselves 4-2 up.
With a minute left of the game, Ashton Ball scored a spectacular goal into the top corner of the net after winning the ball on the half way line and working his way up to the edge of the box.
Congratulations to both teams on a good game of football, not helped it must be said by a bone dry pitch with the most unpredictable of bounces. The performances of all the Llangennech players has certainly given the coaches plenty to think about.
The next training session will be on Monday at 6pm in Llangennech Park.
