Under 10`s Win In A Corker

Thursday 30th April 2009

In a clinker of a match Llangennech just about shaded it in a match that was far too close to call as two spirited teams went hell for leather for it. In an entertaining opening quarter Seaside took the lead with a well taken goal Llangennech also had chances after good solid midfield play from Liam`s Fry and Jones coupled with some strong running from Dylan aided by some hard work from lone striker Celt. The quarter finished with Seaside hanging on to a slender one nil lead. After an even 1st quarter Llangennech dominated the 2nd based on a solid defensive base provided by Catrin, Alisha and Sion Way enableing the midfield to enjoy some good possession Oliver and Peter combining well before a classic strike from Eray to pull Llangennech level. Brave work from Ben lead to Eray`s second and Peter showed a predators instinct sweeping in at the near post following a good save from the Seaside goalkeeper who had displayed excellent handling throughout the game. The 3rd quarter got underway and it was Seaside`s turn to dominate as Llangennech found themselves under the cosh as a defence of Catrin Sion Ryan and Amy had their work cut out,Llangennech were indebted to Jack Grosvenor who made several saves keeping Llangennech in it and earning himself a man of the match award, despite the efforts of Jack and the defence (they can be proud of their efforts) and a hard working midfield trio of Eray Oliver and Peter could not prevent Seaside scoring two good goals Ben having a quiet quarter as Llangennech were pinned back in their own half the third quarter had finished 3-3 leaving the match delicately poised. The 4th quarter found Llangennech under more pressure but good solid defensive work by Jack Grey, Alisha and some strong running out of defence by Keir kept Seaside at bay. Llangennech then took the lead following a good passing work from Dylan and Liam Fry put Liam Jones through on goal his initial shot was well saved but the ball broke kindly for Liam and he slotted home after rounding the keeper but Seaside were far from finished and came back strongly the game was now end to end both sides coming close in particular Celt who was very unlucky not to get on the score sheet then in the dying minute of the game Seaside almost snatched a draw when their striker broke through a static Llangennech defence to put himself one on one with the Llangennech, hearts were in mouths but the day was saved by Sam Walsh bravely throwing himself at the feet of Seasides striker in a match winning save Keir and Alisha finishing off Sam`s good work. In the end the match finished with Llangennech running out 4-3 winners - just! It must be said that both sets of players must be commended for their efforts and the result was hard on Seaside who deserved something out of the game well done to all concerned.
