14's Lose League Opener
Monday 14th September 2009
The opening league game saw the visit of Kidwely to the park. The visitors left happy clinching the win 5-2.
After a solid start it was Kidwely who opened the scoring on 20 minutes from a long ball. Llan left three men unmarked in the area and one of which headed the ball past the helpless goalkeeper. Shortly after, an error from the referee gave Kidwely a penalty that was converted. There was further bad luck for Llan as they conceded a third moments before the half time whistle.
A spirited comeback in the second half saw Llan playing more positive football and almost getting a goal back. But in their bid to earn a goal they were undone by some good counter attacking play from Kidwely who secured the win with their fourth goal.
However, Llan were keen to earn some dignity and did so when Corrie Jenkins scored from a through ball. Substitute Leon Morris played the ball through and Corrie Jenkins got there ahead of the goalkeeper to roll the ball in. This spurred Llan on in a much better second half, and another Corrie Jenkins goal gave some hope. This time Jenkins struck the ball high into the corner of the goal from just inside the area.
As they did at the end of the first half Kidwely scored in the final moments. One on one with the goalkeeper the Kidwely striker placed the ball into the bottom corner. Still a lot to learn from this match but slowly improving.
