Llangennech 2 Llanelli Radicals 3

Wednesday 16th September 2009

Llangennech lost their long unbeaten home record with a 3-2 reverse to Llan Rads after leading 1-0 at half time.

Llan started on top but failed to take advantage of the penalty they were awarded 20 minutes in.

A fine Rhys Wakely strike with the outside of the boot nestled in the bottom corner 30 minutes into the match.

But Llangennech had the worst possible start to the second half when the Rads player strolled in unmarked at the far post to head home.

And minutes later the away team got their noses in front, with Llan failing to clear their lines and the goal mouth scramble that ensued resulted in a goal.

Another five minutes later it became 3-1 as Llan struggled to get near their opponents to close them down.  An excellent finish by the Rads player curled into the top corner.

It was then that the Llangennech team started to fight for the ball again and when Dai Thomas won another penalty, Dean Williams stepped up to convert it.

With Llan pushing everyone forward in search of the equaliser, it was Nathan Phillips who came closest with a header cleared off the line and a left foot drive blocked that seemed destined for the net.

Llangennech must now pick themselves up for a long trip to Llansteffan on Saturday.

Team:  Martin Williams, Mike Jones, Dean Williams, Ian Morgan, Alex Dakin, Rhys Wakely, Darren Dickeson, Chris Coslett, Tom Harris, Dai Thomas, Dai Lewis.  Subs:  Nathan Phillips, Dai Evans.
