Llan 1-4 Ammanford
Monday 21st September 2009
Squad: Josh Watkins, Mark Evans, Jordan Saunders, Baris Hakman, Callum Jenkins, Jordan Frampton, Keiran Partridge, Nathan Baker, Jack Evans, Macauly Simon, Corrie Jenkins, Steffan Lund, Aaron Thomas, Jordan Davies, Steffan Edwards.
Llan took the initiative early on looking up for this match. After 15 minutes of play, Josh Watkins' accurate punt out wide was chased down by willing striker Corrie Jenkins. The striker got ahead of his man and from an awkward ankle, he volleyed the ball superbly over the keeper into the opposite corner from 25 yards out.
But it was Ammanford who sprung into life as Llan invited pressure onto themselves. However, it seemed Llan were coping comfortably with the pressure. Nearing half time the ball slipped through a Llan defender, allowing Ammanford to grab the equalisier one on one with the onrushing keeper.
After the interval Ammanford looked the most dangerous, but Llan battled hard to their credit until they gifted the opposition two similar goals from set pieces. Two unmarked Ammanford players from two seperate corners within minutes gave the away side breathing space as Llan failed to learn their lesson from the first corner, and we're now 1-3 down.
Despite the set back Llan went in search of a goal and it nearly came through Corrie Jenkins once again. Baris Hakman's chipped free kick put the striker in but a good save from the goalkeeper denied him his second goal. The game was over when an unfortunate error led to an Ammanford striker tapping into the empty net.
A much better performance from the squad. Nice to see most of us pulling together, but still need to stop silly mistakes.
