Seaside 1 Under 12's 4

Saturday 30th October 2010

Llangennech Under 12's recorded their second win of the season at Seaside.

The result is credit to the mental strength of the players having been on the wrong end of some heavy score lines in recent weeks playing with 7, 8 or 9 men against 11.  They have kept going and got their reward.

This week 10 players from both teams took to the field which meant it was the first time Llan had started a game on equal terms with the opposition since the last time these sides met.

Llangennech:  Morgan Phillips, Dylan Nicholas-Clark, Kieran Davies, Keir Mehta, Dafydd Williams, Dan Fisher, Kynan Holmes, Owen Flowers, Liam Fry, Liam Jones.

Liam Jones got the ball rolling for Llan in the 2nd minute when he applied the finish to a fine move by Llan's left sided players, Kieran Davies and Kynan Holmes.

Jones then struck a superb right footed shot in off the post on 10 minutes to double Llan's lead.

Owen Flowers supplied a pin point cross for Liam Fry to head in his second headed goal in as many games after 20 minutes.

At half time Llan were urged to keep their shape and discipline during the second half.

Within five minutes of the restart, Owen Flowers' superb chip put Llan four goals to the good and the result seemingly beyond doubt.

However a defensive horror show allowed Seaside to walk the ball through several Llan players before scoring from two yards to make it 4-1 five minutes later.

To their credit, Llan responded well to the goal and were solid at the back for the remainder of the game.  The Seaside goalkeeper must be credited for a fine display to keep the score line at 4-1.

A positive result for Llan which was a result of good football when we had the ball.  However to follow up with another good result next week away to Tumble, they will need to improve their work rate off the ball.

We are still looking to recruit new players to the team to boost the numbers.  If you are or know of somebody in year 7 who is interested please contact the Team Leader, Martin Williams on 07965447430.
