Llangennech U13's 5 Pontlliw 2

Saturday 5th February 2011

In blustery conditions down Penygaer fields, this cup tie was finally played after being postponed 3 times due to the weather.

Llangennech played the first half with the strong wind at their backs and quickly used that to their advantage as a number of chances on goal were created within the first minutes of the game. On 5 minutes striker Fraser Dickson cooly opened the scoring with a well taken goal. A hard working midfield of Lloyd Francis, Callum Dawe and Daniel Breddy kept feeding the strikers with some great passing and individual skill which lead to another goal for Fraser on 16 minutes. Jordan Badman and Tom Roberts combined with Fraser to allow him space in the Pontlliw box to complete his hatrick on 24 minutes. Pontlliw are a good footballing side and looked dangerous when in possession, however Llangennech denied them the ball with a defence of Owain Thoams, Aaron Davies, Tim Thomas and Brandon Fuge who were well organised and restricted Pontlliw to a handfulof shots which keeper Ieuan thomas aptly dealt with. Half time 3 - 0

Llangennech played against the strong wind in the second half which suited their style of playing passing football. As Llangennech dominated possession a sharp turn in the Pontlliw box by Tom Roberts drew a foul and penalty from a Pontlliw defender. Callum Dawe stepped up and rifled the ball in the roof of the net with an unstoppable shot to make the score 4-0. When in possession Pontlliw passed the ball about quickly and were rewarded with a goal that came from a period of pressure on the Llangennech defence. Pontlliw scored a second shortly afterwards with a cool finish past the Llangennech goalie. In the second half Llangennech brought on subs Leon Morris and Tomos Arthur in goal and up front. A great driving run and powerful shot by Callum Dawe for his second goal completed the scoring in an entertaining game that produced good football in windy conditions.
