A J Jones U13's Cup Winners!

Saturday 7th May 2011

Llangennech AFC Under 13's lifted the club's first ever cup on Saturday after a remarkable 9-1 victory over Loughor Rovers at Stebonheath Park.

Llangennech team:  Cai Morris-Daniels, Owain Thomas, Brandon Fuge, Tim Thomas, Aaron Davies, Lloyd Francis, Callum Dawe, Daniel Breddy, Tom Roberts, Fraser Dickson, Jordan Badman. Subs: Josh Broadhurst, Ieuan Thomas, Leon Morris, Tom Arthur, Ross Howells.

After the disappointment of finishing runners up in the cup in the previous season, Llan were determined to make this their day.  Following a tense opening ten minutes, Llangennech made the break through with a neat low finish into the corner by Tom Roberts.  Jordan Badman doubled Llan's lead minutes later but Loughor showed their own fight to score from a set piece to make it 2-1.

The next goal was crucial and the Llangennech captain Fraser Dickson scored an excellent header from Callum Dawe's corner to the delight of the excellent support from Llangennech.  Before the half was over Tom Roberts added his second of the game and it looked a long way back for Loughor in the second half.

Any hope of a Loughor comeback seemed lost just two minutes into the second period when Fraser Dickson burst through to make it 5-1.  Tom Roberts then rounded off an outstanding display by completing his hat-trick.  The classy striker's movement caused the Loughor defence no end of problems and was deservedly rewarded with the Man of the Match trophy after the game.

Josh Broadhurst scored to make it 7-1 before a fine run and finish from energetic midfielder Callum Dawe made it eight.  The last goal of the game in this incredible performance from Llan came from Ross Howells who's strike from the edge of the area hit the roof of the net.

Despite the margin of victory, Llan's defence and goalkeeper played a vital part as they dealt with nearly everything Loughor could throw at them comfortably.

Credit also to Loughor Rovers who have enjoyed a very good season and will bounce back stronger next season.

Llan will hope the party continues this week as they look to collect four points from their last two games to clinch the league championship.  They are away to Calsonic on Monday night and host Bancffosfelen at Llangennech Park on Friday where they will receive the trophy should they collect the points they need.

Congratulations to everyone involved with the Under 13's for such a fantastic achievement.  Everyone at Llangennech AFC is very proud of you all!
