Llangennech fight back to steal the points

Wednesday 27th April 2011

Llangenench travelled to Pontlliw looking to strengthen their position at the top of the league.

Llangennech started well, passing the ball about and creating a number of chances however it was Pontlliw that that opened the scoring with a break down the right hand side and a good finish. 5 minutes later Pontlliw doubled the lead with another neat finish. Llangennech didn't panic though and carried on playing their passing game, however Pontlliw are a tough team and battled for every ball and scored a 3rd to spark Llangennech into action.

With 20 minutes gone and 3 goals down, Llangennech responded by battling for every ball and created 2 chances before half time, which were taken by Aaron Davies and Tomos Arthur to close the gap to 3-2 at half time.

In a hard fought second half Llangennech scored an equaliser from Josh Broadhurst which was followed by the winning goal from Tom Roberts with 5 minutes to go. Pontlliw had a couple of chances before the final whistle which they failed to convert.

Final score: Pontlliw 3 Llangennech 4

Pontlliw must be wondering how they came away from this game without any points and they showed how far they have come this season. Llangenench showed great character to come from 3 goals down to grid out a result.
