Chairman's Welcome

As we recently celebrated the club's 40th year in 2022, on behalf of Llangennech Football Club may I welcome you to our website. I hope you will find it enjoyable and informative to view.  The site is the focal point of our online presence with our Facebook and Twitter pages also constantly updating our members, supporters and visitors.

The club is run by an incredible group of proud and committed coaches, committee members, ex-players and dedicated parents, and new faces with new ideas are always welcome.

Llangennech Football Club has grown exponentially over the past several years.  Every year, the club aims to run two senior teams right down to under 6s minis teams; with mixed teams up to under 11s age group. This gives a great opportunity for both young boys & girls in the local community and surrounding areas to play football. The club takes pride in it's emphasis on helping young players make the transition from our junior section into our senior set up, while aiding their development as people both on and off the field.

The club’s relatively brief history has seen its ups and downs, but recent seasons have brought unprecedented success to our club.  The club claimed its first ever knockout competition silverware in lifting the Darch Cup in 2017, while the first team won promotion from CAFL Div 3 in 2019, and Reserves gaining back-to-back promotions from CAFL Reserve Div 3 to Div 1 in 2021 and 2022.

Llangennech AFC recognises the role that it has to play in the local community and surrounding areas and we will work determinedly to secure facilities that our members deserve. The club is proudly a founding member and affiliated to the Llangennech & Bryn Sports Association which is a community led charity who aim to improve grassroots facilities for all sports within the community. 2022/23 will see the club maintain it's work alongside the charity. The LBSA was delegated the responsibilty of the Recreation Ground Sports Pitch maintenance program, in which the club plays an integral part along side Llangennech RFC.

The long summer of 2020 brought about the design of a new club badge to update the 1982 version. All club members and patrons were invited to vote on the design with the club driving its policy of inclusivity of members and community helping to make the club thier own. The winning crest has the club colours, year of establishment and includes the new and recently used club motto emblazoned in welsh "Brwydro Nid Plygu"; Fight Not Fold. The motto captures the spirit and history of the club's historical fight to survive as the underdog, while it will maintain significance into the future with the iconic Knights theme conveying chivarly, nobiltiy, pride, courage, faith, hope and genorosity and a continued "never say die" attitude.

The cancellation of the 2020/21 season due to the COVID-19 Global Pandemic saw the club actually grow in numbers in the initial aftermath, and the 2022/23 launch will see a full suite of 11 boys junior and mini teams, with 3 senior mens teams, who will play in the Carmathenshire League. The club has also grown it's girls section - in partnership with Street Star Soccer - with the section going from 3 to 7 age groups competing in a fast-growing environment this season.

Aside from those, following it's popularity since it's launch in 2018, the club will continue to run the "Llan Pops" veterans team who will play friendly games on Sunday afternoons. 2021 also saw the Club launch a Walking Football section which has now grown to fielding competitive Over 50s side in south Wales league and tournaments in Wales and England. These will offer opportunities for past and new players and affiliates to come and be part of the club in whatever capacity they feel fit enough to do!

Since 2021 the club has laid claim to having the buggy to bus pass structure it has aspired to have for so long by now truly offering "community football for all". Rather fitting as the club celebrated it's 40th year in 2022! This landmark was honoured with a new Senior team away kit, kindly sponsored by CFL Commercials, who's Director was actually a key founder of the club in 1982. The Adidas kit is Royal Blue and has the "40" logo above the shirt number.

We are very grateful for the many generous offers of support that have come our way both from local volunteers and businesses, without which we could not operate, and to reassure past and future sponsors that by sponsoring Llangennech AFC  you are contributing to the local community as a whole. Feel free to pop along to the “Llan Siro” to watch a game or two this season. The 2022/23 season will see the club run out in a new Joma kit, with all players from boys under 6 to Seniors kitted out in the same strip, further underpinning our "Oneclub" policy!

To finish, if you have any suggestions about possible improvements to this website, or wish to sponsor Llangennech AFC please feel free to email at committe@llangennechafc.org.

Many thanks
